The intent of our inner city services are areas covered by the United States of America Executive Office of Faith-based Initiative. This Office was created as an arm of the Executive branch of the US government in order to encourage faith and community (churches and community prograns) to assist in addressing a host of negative impactor on society by using trained and competent volunteers to provide services on the grass roots level of society - including providing these services when most government and privite programs and agencies are not available to trouble or in-trouble persons (evening, weekends and holidays).
[The White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, formerly the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) is an office within the White House Office that is part of the Executive Office of the President of the United States.]
According to President Obama the mission of this office is to " to work on behalf of those organizations that want to work on behalf of our communities, and to do so without blurring the line our Founders wisely drew between church and state." The more common notion of the assistance given by this office is to build across America a Compassionate Army of faith & community based volunteer organizations and services.
The I-REST organization has been at the grassroots level providing organizatinal, developmental and training services to faith and community based organizations since 1990. And although the projects we solicit to assist with free fund raising are mostly non-profit faith-based or community-based projects, we reserve the right to review any submitted request and to judge each application on what we consider the possible impact that this project would have on either reducing negative forces, activities or behaviors or improving, creating or embellishing positive spiritual outcomes to significant numbers of people.
